Page 1 of 3 Wigan-based Doosan dealer, LB Materials Handling, has agreed an exclusive rolling long-term contract to supply and service distribution giant Eddie Stobart with their entire forklift fleet.
The deal is the largest single Doosan deal in Europe and will see over 120 of the company’s forklifts in operation at 20 sites nationally - from Dartford to Glasgow – running alongside Stobart’s existing fleet of Bendi articulating trucks.
LBMH sales manager, Andy Cross said the contract has been the culmination of around 18 months work, during which time the company had the opportunity to impress Stobart with a number of Doosan-Daewoo short term hire trucks; LBMH eventually coming out top in a review of six potential suppliers.
Said Andy: “We were able to show Eddie Stobart how dealing with an alternative supplier could improve their operation. We invested in over twenty trucks, which were operated over various sites, and this provided a springboard to start the tender for the national business.”
Founded in Cumbria in the 1950s, the company famous for its uniformed drivers and extensive fan club now has over 1,000 trucks, up to 3.5 million square feet of warehousing and a turnover of £150 million.
