Doosan has been placed 471st in the Fortune 500, with 38,500 employees and assets worth over 26,000m dollars.
The list is dominated by oil companies, with only 3 businesses in the top 10 not in the oil business, and despite Saudi Amraco, the world's biggest oil company not being included in the list being state owned.
Among other South Korean firms are Samsung (40), LG (69), Hyundai Motors (87), and Steel maker, POSCO (199).

Doosan has donated 3 billion Korean Won, over £1.5m, to community causes in Korea to help the underprivileged.
Chairman YS Park said, “We worry that many of our neighbours face tough times this winter amid the global economic recession,” adding, “We hope that our donation will help these underprivileged people regain hope.”
Meanwhile, Doosan held a variety of charity activities including events to provide needy residents in Changwon and Incheon with kimchi and briquettes, and the annual Vogue Charity Bazaar.
Senior Executive Managing Director Byungsu Kim (pictured right) represented the company as it made its donation to Lee Sae-joong, Chairman of the Community Chest of Korea.

Stuart Easton, riding the Doosan Honda 1000cc Fireblade, has won the 2008 Macau Grand Prix
Starting from 6th position, on row 2 of the grid, the young Scotsman had a flying start and by the third corner had risen to 3rd place behind six times Macau GP winner Michael Rutter and race leader Cameron Donald.
