Overall purpose:

To ensure compliance with GDPR through the management of personal data processing activities and the implementation of the regulations and applicable laws whilst supporting the business and providing advice and interpretation of data protection legislation..

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Risk-assess all new business processing activities to determine any potential risk to the privacy of individuals personal data
  • Lead the execution of Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA’s) where necessary
  • Liaise with third party processors ensuring the provision of sufficient guarantees and contracts
  • Ensure regulatory and business processes to manage breaches are complied with
  • Communicate with individuals regarding applicable breaches
  • Develop and maintain the Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery plans ensuring ongoing compliance
  • Provide advice to all business areas on all of the legal requirements of the relevant Data Protection regulations and laws, and the EU Privacy Regulation
  • Communicate regulatory, legal or industry updates in a clear, focused, logical and easy to follow manner
  • Proactively work with the senior Management Team and the business to manage their DP risk exposure and introduction of new Data Privacy legal / regulatory requirements as they arise
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws
  • Identify, source or deliver training activities for personnel responsible for data processing activities ensuring all training records are up to date
  • Work with key personnel to ensure the constant maintenance of all mandatory records of processing activities
  • Collaborate with and report progress in line with the organisations corporate governance structure
  • Liaise and cooperate with the supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as necessary

Education and Qualifications:

Educated to degree level D

Relevant Data Privacy qualification E

Knowledge:

Up to date data protection legislation E

In depth knowledge of GDPR E

Good understanding of information systems, data security and data protection needs of the controller. E
